On July 1, 2012, the Lansing Economic Development Corporation and the Lansing Economic Area Partnership announced the historic signing of a contract for economic development services between the two entities. For several decades, business, political and economic development leaders have desired a more unified economic development strategy for the Lansing region, one that serves both the City of Lansing and the entire three-county region in a more effective way. The LEAP-LEDC agreement will strengthen regional and city efforts to create more jobs and assist business startups and business investment, while marketing and branding the Lansing region to the world. This agreement represents a new regional model that ushers in a new era of cooperation for economic development services.
